Law Journal Staff: A Research & Policy Guide

A guide for the staff of the Catholic University Law Review and the Catholic University Journal of Law & Technology.

Checking Out Books

Since the law library is primarily a reference collection, most materials cannot be checked out. Only single-volume treatises, which are not updated in any way, can be checked out. Reference books may not be checked out. Books may not be placed on reserve for the purpose of cite-checking.

Each journal is provided with law library borrowing cards, to be used by journal staff to check circulating books out of the law library.

  • Fall checkouts: the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for returning or renewing all books by December 15.  Contact Dawn or Frances at csl-circ@cua.edu to renew books.

  • Spring checkouts: in general, books checked out in the spring may not be renewed.  All books must be returned by May 15. Exceptions to this policy may be made if necessary. Contact Dawn or Frances at csl-circ@cua.edu if you need an exception.

  • Borrowing cards may not be used for Interlibrary Loan.

The Law Library is not a part of CUA Libraries. Please refer to the CUA Libraries tab for information on their borrowing policies.

Law students must use their own CUA ID to check out materials from the CUA libraries. See the link below for more information.
