The Media Services Department is happy to provide you support for classroom technology. All of the classrooms are equipped so that you can use Zoom or Panopto to record classes, including presentations (such as PowerPoint slides).

Contact Greg Stack and David Luce for hands-on demonstrations. The group email includes Len Davidson if you have any questions or concerns in regard to computing and network access.

Classroom Computers

Use your CUA network credentials to login to the classroom computers.  Please note that we do not have access to your network credentials or other passwords. CUA network password reset information is below. Please be advised that all PCs have been upgraded over the summer and the first time you login it will take extra time.

Zoom

Use your CUA network credentials to login to Zoom. See the Zoom box below for the CUA Zoom link and documentation.

Panopto

Use your Westlaw/TWEN password to login to Panopto. See the TWEN box below for password reset information and TWEN help. See the Panopto box below for Panopto help and documentation.

Editing Panopto Videos

• If the video will be accessed on Panopto, it should be trimmed on Panopto.
• If the video will be accessed on Zoom, settings should be changed on Zoom. You must use your licensed CUA account. See the Zoom help box below.

Zoom and Panopto

Professors may initiate a recording in Zoom or Panopto in classrooms. This method is recommended while masks are in use.

• Both Zoom and Panopto can be set to record audio only, if you do not want a video of class, and will use the microphone arrays in the classroom for a better quality recording.
• Zoom recording links are sent via email to whoever logged in to the lectern PC.
• Panopto recording links will be available in the TWEN course folder.

Handheld Digital Recorders

Professors may initiate a request for a handheld digital recorder. The digital recorders are not currently recommended while masks are in use. If you wish to have a class session recorded by Media Services using a handheld digital recorder, you must send your request DIRECTLY to csl-av@cua.edu for that specific class. Media Services does not accept requests to record from students.

•  Students may check out digital recorders at the Law Library Circulation Desk.
• Students have been reminded that they must still ask for permission to record.
• The Law School’s Rules of Professional Conduct for Law Students prohibits making, using, or distributing class or other law school presentation recordings in an unauthorized manner (Section IV.C.8).

David Luce will email the url(s) to each faculty member.

We have launched a new web page that allows faculty to check the status of classroom technology. If there is a problem, it will be noted on the Classroom Technology Status page with an estimate of when it will be cleared.
