The Collection Services Department is responsible for acquisitions, cataloging, subscriptions, and the processing of library materials.

How to Request Examination Copies for Course Adoption

Law Library staff are unable to place or track requests for examination copies of textbooks and study aids on behalf of faculty.  We will facilitate  requests by maintaining this page and will endeavor to assist you with additional contact information, as needed.

  • Faculty can request complimentary copies online or create/edit a profile by logging in with a West OnePass here.
  • Immediate access to digital copies is also available for many titles with OnePass logon.

 

Thomson West (all other West publications)

NOTE:  As of summer 2013, West Academic and Thomson West are now separate companies.

Policies:

  •       As of summer 2013, West is no longer accepting new requests for complimentary advance sheet subscriptions.
  •       Some West publications, including Black's law dictionary, are excluded from the complimentary materials program.
  •       Examination copies are marked with a large label: "Not for Resale".

 

LexisNexis Law School Publications

Lexis casebooks and study aids are now sold by Carolina Academic Press and subject to CAP's policy on examination copies.

However, faculty may still request free access to casebooks, teacher's manuals and other materials for existing  Lexis law school publications via the LexisNexis Digital Library.

  • New faculty accounts can be created on http://www.wklegaledu.com/ and will be verified with the school. 
  • Review copies are provided primarily in the form of ebooks. Ebook review copies can be requested through the catalog (requires an account). If a textbook is later adopted for the course, a hardback copy will be provided. 
  • To request a hard copy for review purposes, contact the sales rep (listed above). 
  • Teacher's manuals are available at http://www.aspenlawschool.com/ but are password protected. To request a password, submit a request

Examination copies are available for textbooks (e.g. "Cases and materials") only.  If  text is eligible for examination copies, an exam copy icon will appear at the bottom of the catalog page.  A copy can be requested online using the Exam copy link, or by contacting CAP.  See Policy.
