Borrowing Materials: Home

What Can I Borrow?

CUA students may check out any of the law library's circulating materials. Primary source materials, digests, looseleaf binders, mult-volume sets, books updated by pockepart, periodicals, and reference resources do not circulate outside the library. You must present a valid CUA in order to check out materials.

Items Available on Reserve at the Circulation Desk

The following items may be checked out from the Circulation Desk:

  • Study aids, such as Examples & Explanations
  • Textbooks for required doctrinal courses
  • Bluebooks
  • Materials on reserve for a particular professor
  • Digital voice recorders
  • Laptop locks
  • Webcams
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • Keys for audiovisual rooms

Reserve books and DVDs must be used in the library.



Loan Periods


CUA Law students  4 weeks (2 renewals allowed)
CUA non-law students    2 weeks (1 renewal allowed)
CUA Law alumni  2 weeks (1 renewal allowed)


Reserve Materials

Books & DVDs 3 hours (1 renewal allowed)
Digital voice recorders    8 hours (1 renewal allowed)
Laptop locks 8 hours (1 renewal allowed)
CDs 2 days (1 renewal allowed)
Webcams 8 hours (1 renewal allowed)
Keys for AV rooms 4 hours (no renewals)


NOTE: Visitors to the law library must present a valid driver's license in order to use reserve materials. Visitors may use reserve books, DVDs (a key to an AV room will be supplied), and laptop locks.
